The College is pleased to announce that its NICE accredited process for developing guidelines ‘Guidance for authors on writing guidelines’ has been approved.

The College is pleased to announce that its NICE accredited process for developing guidelines ‘Guidance for authors on writing guidelines’ has been approved and renewed for a further 5 years until July 2022. The NICE accreditation mark will now appear on all College clinical guidelines.

The College produces a range of products for pathologists. These include cancer datasets and tissue pathways, the development process for which, was accredited by NICE accreditation team in 2012 for 5 years. When the accreditation term ended the College submitted an extended version of its guideline writing process to cover all Clinical Effectiveness guideline products (not just datasets and tissue pathways).

A key priority for the College is the maintenance of its NICE accreditation status as the accreditation mark help users identify trusted guidelines that have been developed using a critically evaluated high-quality process. It also helps improve the quality of information produced for healthcare decision makers.
